KHAIRPUR: A two-day International conference on “Business and Management: Navigating Future” organised by, Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) Khairpur Department of Business Administration Faculty of Management Sciences, in collaboration with Higher Education Commission Pakistan, was inaugurated at SALU. University Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Noor Ahmed Shaikh said that for business to sustain and be profitable, our planet has to be sustainable. He said that in management, there was the rise of business eco system-group of firms which together provide complex products and related services to meet end-to-end requirements of users across the value chain. The integration between media, technology and telecommunication firms are already making waves and would be an apt contemporary example, he said.
Major General (r) Agha Umar Farooque said that business has key role in development of any country. The educational institutions could produce skilled work force with expertise in nation building. He said that it was high time that new innovations and latest trends were promoted for entrepreneurship.
The emergence of nations such as India, Brazil and China has replaced the era of unquestioned dominance of western countries or any particular region, he said.
He appreciated efforts of SALU for promoting culture of discourse at the varsity.
Dr Amar Bin Md Rasli, from Malaysia, presented his keynote speech on “Future Needs of New Knowledge Creation”. He said that blurring of boundaries among nations and their increased interconnectedness, accelerated by technology, had led to change in the world order that had a profound impact on global business. In the contemporary age of technology and information boom, there is need of business education in the nation building. He said, efficiency, credibility and performance to create new knowledge was usually the central approach of organisation’s competitive advantage. Dr Mahmood Hussain Shah from UK delivered speech on “Cyber Crimes against Business’ Causes and Prevention Strategies”. He said that it was a fact that all businesses connected to internet could expect to fall victim to cyber crimes at any point. He said criminals try to increase their ability to steal money directly or to turn stolen data into money. He suggested that mechanism of cyber security may be enhanced to control cyber crime while operating the business.
Faculty of Management Sciences Dean Prof Dr Noor Shah Bukhari said that this was the first ever conference organised under auspices of Faculty of Management Sciences. He thanked HEC Pakistan for sponsoring the conference. Department of Business Administration Chairperson Prof Dr Iram Rani, shedding light on objectives of conference, said that the conference would identify key challenges as well as suggestions to enhance culture of business in progressive manner.
Prof Shah Muhammad Luhrani and Prof Dr Amanat Ali Jalbani also spoke on the occasion.
