Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Lahore to assess the damage caused by severe flooding in Punjab, as water levels at Shahdara reached a massive flow of 180,000 cusecs.
On arrival, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz received the Prime Minister. Together, they planned to inspect flood-affected areas in Shahdara and Narowal to evaluate damage and coordinate relief efforts.

Authorities have evacuated nearby communities due to rising Ravi River waters. Floodwater has entered residential areas, including Thaim Park and Chohng, forcing urgent relocation of residents to safer zones.
According to the Assistant Commissioner of Raiwind, about 2,500 homes have been evacuated so far. Emergency teams are actively working to move residents to secure locations and provide immediate assistance.
Government data shows over 150,000 people and 35,000 livestock have already been relocated to safe areas. Relief camps, including medical and veterinary facilities, have been set up to support displaced families.
Officials estimate that more than 600,000 people are affected by the floods. UN OCHA reports indicate that fatalities this monsoon season are nearly three times higher compared to the previous year, emphasizing the severity of the disaster.
Rescue 1122 spokesperson Farooq Ahmed confirmed that 39,638 people from multiple districts, including Sialkot, Gujranwala, and Lahore, have been safely transferred to shelters as authorities continue evacuation efforts.
